Weekend in Vail

This last weekend I got to go to Vail for The Sky’s The Limit’s Spring Retreat. Mommy, Daddy and I went up early on Friday after stopping for groceries at Costco so that we could prep everything for the group who was coming up from Denver and Kansas City. Frankly, I was most excited about seeing Alyssa, my cousin from Kansas City. They finally arrived in time for us to have dinner, but we were both so excited, neither one of us ate very much. Since they got there at dinnertime, we didn’t have much time to play on Friday night! I did, however, wake up really early on Saturday morning ready to play with Alyssa. I don’t know what Daddy’s problem was, but I thought 3:30 AM was a perfect time to get up. Luckily (for him) I went back to sleep for a little while in his bed and then Mommy and I got up at 7:00. Alyssa was up eating breakfast with her Daddy and then we watched a DVD of nursery rhyme songs together and danced around. This is a picture of me watching and singing Alyssa’s favorite song about three little kittens that lost their mittens – “Meow, Meow. Meow, Meow.” Here is a picture of Alyssa and her Mommy - they’re so cute! After we all got dressed and up and around, we went to the park. It seemed like it took us forever to walk down there in our strollers. Once we got to the park I had so much fun on the slides and the teeter-totter and swings. The best part about it is that I could do a lot of the things by myself. Here I am heading off on my own as soon as we got out of the strollers. I went down the spiral slide all by myself. I rode on the teeter-totter by myself. Well, Alyssa and her Mommy were on the other side so that it would go up and down, but I was by myself on my side. After playing at the park, we were really thirsty and hungry for lunch. On the way back to the house Alyssa and I held hands because we are such good friends. Look at how cute we are! Later that day, after lunch and a nap, Mommy and Daddy took me to a different park that I went to a year ago. Here is the “Then” picture. Here is the “Now” picture. Daddy and I had fun on the slide last year, but this year I went down all by myself. I also love the swings. Here I am “Now” having fun swinging really high on the swings. Here I am “Then,” when I was little enough to share the swing with Alyssa. She was sitting behind me back-to-back. This time I also had to check out the slide that is like a big tube. I like to yell, “ALICE,” down the tube and hear it echo. It started raining while we were there and we had to run back to the car. Mommy didn’t like that part at all! When we got back to the house Alyssa and I spent some quality time coloring. I couldn’t believe all the fun things I was getting to do all in one day. Then, Gram showed up with Uncle Buddy and Jackee! This is a picture of them from Easter. Gram brought breadcrumbs to feed the ducks at the pond across the street. We had to hold hands to cross the street with Mommy. So, Alyssa and I went over there and threw a bunch of bread in the water, but the ducks didn’t ever come over to eat them! I definitely don’t have the arm that Alyssa has, so most of my crumbs were on the grass or right by the side of the pond. Gram helped me for a while, and then Uncle Buddy helped me. He is so funny; he makes me laugh and laugh! After we were done with the ducks, we played in the back yard with our Daddies. They would hide golf balls for us to find and Alyssa had a little ball we could kick and throw. We also found a fun tree to peek around. We love each other and had to give hugs and kisses. Mommy says the funniest part of the whole day was when I was calling Shawn, “new one,” because he was a daddy too, but not my Daddy. I think he should consider it a great honor to be loftily placed up there with my Daddy! Alyssa and Me and our Daddies had fun playing in the yard together. We were playing ball and running around a lot! After such a long day, we ate dinner and then took a bath in the biggest tub either of us had ever seen. We had fun splashing and playing with the toys! The next morning Mommy and Daddy and I had to get up early to drive back to Denver for Church. “New one” was up so we got to say goodbye to him, but I didn’t get to see Alyssa. I did however, talk about Alyssa all day on Sunday and can’t wait to see her again. I love you, Alyssa!

My New Hat

Today was a day with Gram. She usually comes to play with me on a different day, but this week she was in Phoenix again and so she, Mommy and Grandma Sue switched their days around. Gram thought I was looking kind of funny at lunchtime with cheese sticking out of my mouth, so she took a picture of it. Aunt Stacey put me down for my nap and stayed with me during the afternoon because Mommy and Gram went to get their hairs cut. When I got up from my nap all the girls were still at my house! Mommy was getting things ready for our trip to the mountains for the TSTL retreat and the other girls were knitting. Stacey had a bad pain in her tooth and she was resting. While she was lying down on the couch I got into her knitting and put on one of her clogs as a hat. I think it looks pretty good. Everyone thought it was so funny that I had to take it off and put it on again for effect. When Daddy got home we ordered a pizza for dinner. It was very good. Gram left to pick up Papa from his trip and I got to entertain Mommy, Daddy and Stacey – I love an audience!

Daddy loves the Zoo!

Today I went to the zoo with my Daddy. We dropped Mommy off at the office and then headed out for fun with all the animals. He said he was so busy having fun with me that he didn’t have time to take any pictures. So, the animal pictures from this post are from a previous time we went to the zoo and include a couple of my favorites. When we got there we went right in and saw the lions first. Then we headed on over to see the tigers. There were a lot of kids at the zoo with their schools and their parents. I had a lot of fun. I saw elephants, giraffes, monkeys, flamingos (or “mingos” as I lovingly call them – and I was wearing my “mingo” shirt today) and the babies in the nursery. I also got to see the lizards and snakes in he jungle. Well, I know if its technically called the jungle, but it looks just like one of the books I have that’s called Jungle and has a character called Sammy the Snake. What a treat to get to go to the zoo with just Daddy. After the zoo we met Mommy and Scott from her work and Scott’s daughter for lunch at P.F. Chang’s. It was a very good restaurant with lots of rice for me. I also tried the chicken lettuce wraps and though I didn’t care for the leaf, I loved the filling. After lunch we went home and I took a good nap. What a fun day!

FLOWERS!

Today Mommy was home with me because Gram and Papa are in Phoenix with Stacey and her friend Genia. We went to a garden center this morning and got some pretty flowers to plant in pots outside on our patio. Mommy let me pick out which colors I liked. On the way back home we talked about all the kind of flowers we bought: Pansies, Petunias, Snap Dragons, Geraniums and a new Clematis to plant in the ground. When we got home we planted the ones in pots. I was a BIG help to Mommy - I don’t know what she would have done without me. You may not be able to tell, but both of my fists are full of dirt that I was “storing” on Daddy’s grill in three little piles. When it got close to lunch time, we quit planting and Mommy let me have a flower for behind my ear. This picture is a little bit out of focus, but you can see how much fun I was having as well as the dirt in my mouth. Mommy told me not to, but I was having fun sticking my head in the bag of dirt and smelling it. I guess I just figured if it smelled that good, I might as well try it. Here is a picture of the results of my handy-work. I spent a good deal of my time scooping out little bits of dirt into the pot that had one of the geraniums in it and then dumping the dirt on the patio. I also was having fun rubbing handfuls of dirt on my shirt, but the dirt would sometimes fly up into my nose and mouth. I’m not sure what was more fun, helping Mommy in the dirt or playing in the sink in the kitchen afterwards when she was hosing all the dirt off of me. I sure didn’t want to get out of the sink! When all was said and done, I ate lunch and went down for my nap a little early because I was so worn out. Here is the finished product. Daddy’s still going to have to plant the clematis to the right of the door, but I think it looks pretty nice!

Happy Mother’s Day, Mommy!

Today is a special day because it is Mother’s Day. I have great parents and I’m glad there are whole days to celebrate them. We started out the day like any other. I got up and watched Charlie and Lola. Then I took a shower and loved to stomp in the water. Then it was time to get dressed. I kind of forgot that today was supposed to be Mommy’s special day for a minute when I was wailing and refusing to put on the outfit she picked out for me. I got over it though. Then Mommy did my hair and asked me what I wanted for breakfast. I simply replied, “cereal, milk and bacon.” Unfortunately for me, and for everyone else I think, there was no bacon, so I settled for banana in stead. When Mommy came down stairs, I gave her the present that Daddy and I bought for her. She was excited to open it, but not before taking a picture first. The sun was right in our eyes, but Daddy and I posed for the picture outside anyway. After that we went to church and to my surprise Mommy and Daddy stayed with me in the Toddler Room. I guess they have signed up to volunteer once a month watching after me and my friends during church. I was the only Toddler there today, so we all went into the baby room and played for a while. I had fun, but the other kids just didn’t realize that I was in charge of all the toys, dolls and crayons in the room. I guess the adults (including Mommy and Daddy) didn’t understand that either, because they got upset with me when I yelled, “no” and marched over to a little girl and took “MY” doll away from her that I had been playing with before, but had since abandoned. I guess it upset her that I got in trouble too, because she totally started crying. Anyway, I did have fun with my little pal Grace riding on the horsey with her. Here are some pictures of us having fun. After church we drove home and picked up Grandma Sue and Grandpa and went to Castle Rock for lunch. We ate at the Castle Cafe and had a really good lunch. I ate some chips and then had chicken fingers, fries and kep-up dip-it (ketchup). Then, when everybody else’s food came I a few croutons off Mommy’s salad, some tomato and shredded carrots, part of a roll, mashed potatoes and gravy and some corn. Then, they got an Apple Brown Betty with Ice Cream for dessert and I had some of that. Man, I’m telling you, I love to eat!! Here we all are outside the restaurant after lunch. After lunch we came home and Mommy found the present that Grandma Sue left for her (and Daddy) for Mother’s Day. I’m not sure which one she was more excited about, I know which one I’d be more excited about! The one you can eat would definitely be the top of my list, but I also like the one I got her. It is two charms for her Pandora bracelet. Here is a picture of the whole bracelet. Guess which two are new? L O O K H E R E T O S E E I F Y O U W E R E R I G H T ! #1 A giraffe for my Daddy, cause he likes ‘em and #2 a green bead, ‘cuz its pretty. Well, that’s all I have to report. Off to take my nap. I only have one more thing to say and that is, “I love my Mommy!”

“Drink it, its faster”

I know, so many of the pictures of me are at the breakfast, lunch or dinner table or out at a restaurant, but Mommy says that’s the only time I’m “contained.” So I went to lunch with Mommy, Aunt Stacey and Gram on Friday and we ate at Kokoro. I love eating edemame, so Mommy ordered some. I was especially digging the peanut dipping sauce they serve them with and was dipping my fingers and whole hand in, in an effort to eat it. Then Gram suggested, “Why don’t you just drink it, it’d be a lot faster.” Taking her advice, it was indeed faster to drink it. Thanks Gram! I can always count on you for “good” ideas!!

Theme Today: Nemo

Mommy got me this little outfit the other day at Wal-mart. It is so awesome because it has Nemo on it. So I enjoyed watching Nemo, in my Nemo outfit, eating goldfish! Gram and Mommy thought it was cute at lunch when I was blowing on my rice to cool it down. I’m such a big girl now using a spoon and feeding myself.

Dance Fever

Sometimes a girl’s just got to dance. I will dance by myself, but sometimes I have a partner. Today that partner was Connie, my trusty baby doll.

Jambalaya and Gumbo

One of the best restaurants in Littleton is called NoNo’s. I went there with Daddy, Mommy, Aunt Stacey and Amy for lunch the other day. I never really get to order what I want, but I have fun with the menu. Mommy thought I’d eat her shepherd’s pie, but I was much more interested in Stacey’s gumbo and Daddy’s Jambalaya. Spicy, but oh, so good!

Birthday Celebration

HAPPY 80th BIRTHDAY GRANDMA SUE! We went to lunch for Grandma Sue’s 80th Birthday on Sunday after church. She was not only surprised by the Pandora bracelet charms she got, but was super excited that Uncle David flew in to celebrate with her. I love you Sue!
