Time flies when you’re having fun.

9/9/06
I’m a pretty happy baby and Mommy says I’m getting bigger every day.  I recently started smiling a lot, which she really enjoys.

Sometimes us kids are not all that happy.  Alice sometimes throws fits, but Daddy and Mommy are always saying that’s what a 2-year-old does.

I guess?  The nice thing about having an older sister is that we already have lots of books and toys and Mommy and Daddy read to us and play with us a lot.  I love my family.

Sleepy Boy

Ok, I’m a tummy sleeper. And, I’m pretty cute if I say so myself!

Nanny and Grandpa Tom’s

My sister Alice always wants to go outside to swim.

img_5071.JPG
Since we’ve been in Missouri, she has been swimming every day.

img_5072.JPG

While she does that, I’ve been spending time inside hanging out.

I love staring at the bugs on my car seat.

Alice also loves to watch the dogs eat. She has had fun playing with Bob and Sugar.

img_5066.JPG
She wanted them to stop eating so they could play, but I’m pretty sure that their just about as likely to stop eating in the middle of things as I am!

Snuggles

I love to snuggle with Daddy in the morning after I eat. Mommy got this picture of Daddy and me while we were sleeping this morning.

Happy Birthday America (by Liam)

Today I got to go see a friend of Mommy’s named Joy and her son James. James is 11 weeks older than me, can you tell?

We went down to their house for a 4th of July Barbeque. Alice was really excited to go because she loves Joy’s fish tank. She has some fish that look like Nemo.

She also had a really good time running around in the big bouncy thing that was in the back yard. This is a picture of Mommy’s friends Joy and Karina in the bouncy thing. We didn’t stay too long, but had fun while we were there. Mommy said her friends thought she was nuts, but it just made her feel normal to get out!

I’m home from the hospital! (by Liam)

Today I got to come home from the hospital with Mommy and Daddy.

On our way home we stopped at Target to get a couple things, then I got to see where I’m going to live. My sister Alice, Nanny and Grandpa Tom were waiting for us when we got there. That was a pretty big outing, so there’s not much more to report from this day!

My Second Day (by Liam)

Today was my second day. I mean, literally, my second day on this earth. It started off with a visit from my doctor, Dr. Murphy. She said I look great and that I’m a healthy baby boy. Mommy loves this picture of me, cause I look so alert for someone who is less than 24 hours old.

img_4938.JPG

After a while, Alice came to visit again with Nanny and Grandpa Tom. While they were all here Stacey brought Alice, Mommy and Daddy a treat from Jamba Juice. I’m gonna have to try one of those, Alice looks like she was really enjoying hers.

img_3122.JPG

She also got a fun little stuffed cat from Aunt Stacey (who knitted it specially for her). I think I’m going to like Aunt Stacey! While we were all visiting, Papa came by too. It was kind of crowded, but it was fun having all those people who love me come visit. Stacey stayed while Daddy went home with Nanny, Gpa Tom and Alice and then Mommy’s friend Joy came to see me. Her son is 10 1/2 weeks older than I am and will be a good friend of mine I’m sure.

Later in the day, Aunt Jackee finally got to come by and see me. She was on her way to a wedding and looked very pretty. She held me for a little while and told me all about Uncle Buddy, who will be here Thursday to meet me too!

When Daddy got back he brought the blanket that everyone in the family contributed to. Nanny finished the crocheted edge. Here’s Aunt Stacey holding it up to show everyone and a close-up of the edge.

I had to pose with the blanket and I’m wearing my new (of course everything is new to me) outfit with cowboys on it. Daddy has pj pants with cowboys on it too, that look a lot like my outfit.

img_4955.JPG

Aunt Stacey was right, I do like to feel the edge of the pretty edge that Nanny did for me. I also like the feeling of my sweater. Aunt Stacey made that for me too. I just had to model the sweater.

img_3158.JPG img_3154.JPG

She did such a great job on it. And, it matches my new blanket and the clothes that Mommy got for me before I was born. Well, I’m pretty sleepy from a long day, so I’d better get some rest!

My Big Day! (Introducing a new contributer, Liam!)

img_4875.JPG

Today Mommy went into the hospital to have me (Liam!). It was quite an experience. Mommy, Daddy and Aunt Stacey left the house around 6:45 AM, but before going to the hospital to eat breakfast. Mommy said they wouldn’t give her anything to eat at the hospital until I came out, so she needed to eat something before.

After Mommy got the hospital, they gave her some medicine, Pitocin, so labor would start. Mommy started to have some mild contractions at about 9:00 AM. Daddy was busy watching the World Cup Soccer match between England and Portugal.

The nurse, Wanda, increased the Pitocin a little bit at a time, but Mommy’s contractions were still pretty mild and were 3 to 4 minutes apart from 9:00 AM until noon.

Mommy’s doctor, Dr. Ljunghag, came in and broke her water at about noon. Aunt Stacey said that she used a crochet hook to do it. (Eeew, gross!) Pretty soon Mommy’s contractions got stronger and came faster. Mommy got an epidural at about 1:00 PM, and that helped with the pain – a little bit.

Soon the contractions got stronger and stronger. This made me feel funny! My heart rate went down, and I was moving all over the place. Now stuff started moving really fast – things were really crazy from 1:00 to 2:00 PM.

Mommy’s doctor came in to check on things at 2:00 and said I was read to come out! Dr. Ljunghag told Mommy to start pushing even before they got the bed changed around for my delivery.

Mommy started trying to push me out at 2:00 and I was out and screaming by 2:12 PM. Mommy sure was relieved. (She had to push for almost 3 hours when my big sister was born!) I gave Mommy a little wink to let her know that I didn’t want to pro-long her pain this time!

It sure was cold after I got out of Mommy’s tummy, but there were lots of people around to wrap me up, hold me tight and keep me warm. Here are some pictures of all the people around to help welcome me into the world.

img_4908.JPG img_4897.JPG

First, Mommy got to hold me, and then Daddy got to hold me.

img_4885.JPG img_4900.JPG

Then Nanny (Daddy’s Mommy), and then Grandpa Tom (Daddy’s Daddy).

img_4888.JPG

Then PaPa (Mommy’s Daddy) and Grandpa Murray (Mommy’s Grandpa) came in to see me. You’d think they’ve never seen a baby before.

img_4933.JPG img_4936.JPG

Next Grandma Sue (Mommy’s Grandma) and Aunt Stacey got a chance and then Papa got to hold me too. (Papa was wearing the same shirt when my big-sister Alice was born, that’s so funny.)

Here is Papa with Alice in 2004.

Apparently I’ve been born into a family of crafty knitters and crocheters, here are all the Grandma’s that were here and Aunt Stacey, knitting while everyone was getting to meet me. I can’t wait to use the blanket that Nanny is crocheting the boarder on in this picture. Everyone in the family helped to make it.

After a long day, Mommy and I were tired. When everyone else left to go to dinner, Gram stayed with us and got this picture of us taking a little nap.
