New Years Eve
New Years Eve was the last full day that we were in Missouri at Nanny and Grandpa Tom’s. Daddy’s cousin was getting married, so we didn’t have nearly enough time to play outside before we left for Springfield and the wedding. I did get to go on a walk with Nanny though. Something I didn’t realize about being a kid, is that there is a lot of stuff that goes on behind the scenes that Mommy and Daddy and other adults do for me. The day before, when I was playing outside, apparently I got a lot of burrs on my coat and shoes and tights, which Nanny and Daddy picked off for me. So, when it was time to go outside today, I wore one of Nanny’s old sweatshirts as a coat instead. I also wore my big winter boots. The dogs joined us for our tromp through the woods and I had a lot of fun, AGAIN! Mommy came with us for a little way and took some pictures, of course. You can see that I’m carrying a plastic knife with me (which I dug out of one of the drawers in the kitchen along with paper cups and plates that I spread around on the floor). After a while I turned to Mommy and said, “Bye, bye,” which she took as a clue to head back inside. Here is a picture of Nanny and I right before we disappeared into the woods. From there we walked all around the property. It is really pretty and I’m looking forward to seeing it when its all green. Mommy told me something about having to check me for ticks when I’ve been in the woods in the spring and summer, but I’m not sure what she’s talking about. Nanny took over picture taking duties, and here is a shot from the part of the property that has a nice sitting rock and part that is is kind of like a meadow. After we were done with our walk, I took a nap before getting ready to leave for the wedding.
