Wow, June already. I’ll be 10 months old next week and the time has really gone by fast! Last month was pretty crazy. I was busy doing lots of stuff every weekend, and last week Mommy and I were in Vail all week long. I’m glad to finally be home and back into my routine. There is lots to report, so let me start where I left off last time. Fun in the mountains with my cousin Alyssa.
After Mommy, Daddy and I got home from the mountains, we were only in town for a couple days before we left again for Kansas City. Mommy had some meeting to go to, and I got to stay at Alyssa’s house and play with her toys. We had fun!
Her house is brand-new and there is a lot of room to play. Alyssa’s Mommy put her toys in the cabinet at the bottom of this entertainment unit so they’re really easy for us to get out. My Mommy thought it was such a good idea that she did the same thing when we got home.
We were only at Alyssa’s house for a couple days, but I was glad that I got to see where she lives. Here we are on our last day with her at a Mediterranean place called Jerusalem Cafe for lunch. We girls love our Daddies!
When we left Alyssa’s house we went to my Great-Aunt Lauramae’s house to stay a couple nights. Mommy, Daddy and Uncle Ryan went to see Star Wars: Episode III and I stayed with Nanny, who was also in town with Grandpa Tom. Mommy and Daddy said that when I get bigger that they would watch all six Star Wars movies with me, but that I would probably think they were lame. They’re probably right. I heard that when babies grow up they sometimes think their parents are stupid, until one day when they have kids of their own. Ah, the circle of life, or something like that.
Anyway… back to my story. I got sick on the last night I was in Kansas City and my Mommy and Nanny took good care of me. Right before we flew home I got to see Aunt Magda, Uncle Joe, Grandpa and Grammy. I wasn’t in too good of a mood though, because I had a fever. I was feeling a little better on the flight but I didn’t get my appetite back for about a week.
One good thing that came out of the trip was that Alyssa’s Daddy finally gave up the “comb-forward” and shaved his head. I think it looks 100% better. He is a goofy guy, that Uncle Shawn!
So, we were home about a week when we went back to Vail for Memorial Day. It was pretty fun because My Great-Grandma Sue and Grandpa, Gram, Pop, Tía Tay Tay (Aunt Stacey keeps trying to get me to say her name, so she changed it to something she thinks that I might say sooner), Ray Lynn, Aunt Rox, Uncle Brian and Mommy and Daddy were all there. We had a fun time. The boys all played golf and looked for bears while the girls knitted a button-hole bag. Here is Tía Stacey, Ray Lynn and Mommy looking at all the fun colors of yarn that Stacey brought. She brought it just in case anyone needed something extra. She is so nice.
When the boys went to play golf on the first day, all the girls sat out on the porch and knitted. I played in my exer-saucer and red books. One of my favorites is Baby Boo, I like to kiss all the babies in the book.
At night I got in on the knitting action. Mommy kept me entertained with a tape measure and a Chibi (that’s knit-speak for a chic little needle used to sew up knitting projects and sew in ends). Then I learned how to knit with Aunt Stacey. She thought it was so funny that I sat in her lap for more than 5 minutes with my hands on her hands while she sang a little song about the steps of knitting. I don’t know what’s so funny, I could teach her a thing or two!
Finally, by the time we left Vail all the girls had finished their bags. Here is a picture of all of them. Going clock-wise starting with the upper left is Mommy’s, Stacey’s, Grandma Sue’s, Ray Lynn’s, Gram’s and Aunt Rox’s. They all look so pretty!
I got lots of “lap time” over the weekend too. I’m always worried that Gram is going to bite her tongue off when I’m sitting on her lap though. Look at her she loves me so much. Daddy also loves to hold me tight. Here I am eating green yarn on Daddy’s lap.
Mommy found this sign in a shop in Edwards, Colorado. She didn’t buy it for me, but she thought it was cute with the fun flowers on top. Maybe she just thought if she had bought it, it would have been wishful thinking.
Pretty much everyone left on Monday, but my little family stayed, Pop stayed too, but he went to bed early then went to play golf the next day. Man, he really likes golf! We went to Silverthorne to the outlet mall and Mommy and Daddy bought me some summer clothes. When we got back to Vail we did laundry and changed the towels in the bathrooms so that the house would be ready for the Doulos staff to arrive on Tuesday night. It was fun spending time with Mommy and Daddy by themselves without everyone else.
Mommy spent time with the Doulos people Wednesday and Thursday. I had fun with my Gram and Stacey while they were in their boring meetings.
Here is a picture of me in Ray Lynn’s scarf/shawl she knitted, its called a Clapotis. Aunt Stacey’s is the colorful one she is wearing. What a lot of work that must have been to knit, I hope I get something knitted from my Aunt Stacey for my birthday! :)
Here are all the fun girls who were on the retreat.
Overall I had fun in Vail but I’m glad to be home. This week I have had my normal routine. Here I am at home playing with my toys on the cool rug that Nanny made for me. I also have another tooth coming in. Now my one little lonely tooth will have a friend.
I’m a big girl who can pull up and am crawling and trying to stand on my own.
I love to kiss the baby!
Today Mommy is home with me and she picked some pretty flowers out in front of our house and made these pretty bouquets. She made one for Aunt Stacey too. If you follow the link, she is supposed to be posting a picture of the flowers on her blog.
